Pari Livermore’s journey in philanthropy all began with her dream of being a matchmaker. It is something she has always wanted to do, even at a young age. As someone who lives for others, she takes great pride in seeing people find love. In 1986, she took this dream to the next step and decided to turn it into something that would help those around her, in more ways than just finding their perfect match.

Finding Love Through Generosity

Pari served as the mind and heart of a matchmaking project called the “Red and White Ball”, asking 25 of her most trusted friends to help her in planning a fundraising event for bachelors residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. All the proceeds gathered from the event would be donated to the American Heart Association, which was Pari’s chosen beneficiary at the time. To this day, we still consider this ball to be one of our biggest and most successful projects.

The first Red and White Ball allowed 150 of the most eligible bachelors to spend their night in elegance and luxury as they sought their other half among the other attendees. The women enjoyed the event’s “dollar for a dance,” wherein women paid a small amount to move along the dancefloor with the top bachelors in attendance. At the end of the night, the bachelor who had the most dance tickets would be named the event’s King and Heartthrob.

Pari took great pride in seeing these people get to know each other and enjoy themselves, all while raising a hefty amount in support of her beneficiaries. In the same year that it was founded, the Red and White Ball was named one of the Top 10 parties of the year by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Success Over the Years

The Red and White Ball’s success grew immensely, along with every aspect of its program. The number of attendees increased from 150 to 1000. With the project’s immense popularity, Pari’s list of beneficiaries only grew longer. She made it her mission to help as many people as she could, in ways wherein she could live out her dream and bring joy to the bachelors in her area.

In the span of 20 years, Pari led our team to produce 14 Red and White Balls and garnered a total of 2.6 million dollars for her beneficiaries, including the American Cancer Society, the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Society, Camp Kasem National, the Family Caregiver Alliance, and the California State Parks Foundation. A different charity was featured in all 14 events, giving each one an equal chance to benefit from the dance.

To this day, Pari is still leading our team in hosting matchmaking events and other fundraiser projects in support of her beneficiaries. Her efforts have turned her into an inspiration for those around her, encouraging others to find joy in helping others while doing the things they love.
